Yes, you are a leader – a thought leader – and, as a result, I urge you to explore your leadership philosophy and style. If you don’t yet think of yourself as a leader, then this is the article for you.

Corporations examine and aspire to different leadership philosophies and techniques. We small business owners also need to define our vision, mission, values, culture, and organizational personalities. We would call this our leadership identity or authentic business expression.

The “WHY” we are in business forms a solid business foundation from branding to selling.

WHY comes first, followed by WHAT and HOW

To stay centered in our WHY, we need to learn how to strengthen our leadership mindset. My favorite leadership mindset philosophy in both large and small business is leading with emotional intelligence. Why? It fits all organizations, including my small business, and is easily applied to my own personal leadership style and family philosophy. As a busy business owner, mom, wife, and many other roles, I seek out any strategy that helps my personal relationships and quality of life. Finding these makes me happy; how about you?

Time magazine declared Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman to be one of the 25 most influential business management books. Emotional intelligence can help explain why some very intelligent people do not make influential leaders, while other people with moderate intelligence can drop out of college and make billions!

Business success does not only come to people with high IQs. Instead, leaders excel by using their EQ (Emotional Intelligence).

Emotional intelligence is the ability to be aware of our own emotions and those of others, and to use that information to manage ourselves and manage our relationships.- Dr. Laura Belsten

The primary take-away is that we do have really smart, brilliant people in the world who struggle with their own emotions or the emotions of others – they lack self-awareness!

Self-awareness is the foundation of all leadership and a vital attribute to success in businesses of any size. This is not fluff – this is brain science. Let me help you strengthen your self-awareness!

I can do an assessment to determine your baseline emotional intelligence via the internet. This takes place both quickly and efficiently. Then together we will create a Career and Leadership Mindset Plan and toolbox. This remains a vital component of your business plan! The tool I use with my clients is the Social and Emotional Intelligence Profile (SEIP). Click here to learn about the SEIP.

I look forward to introducing you to Key Leadership MINDSET habits and competencies that will transform your business into CALM Power – to attract more money, visibility, and business growth.

Gifted leadership occurs where heart and head – feeling and thought – meet. These are the two things that allow a leader to soar. All leaders need enough intellect to handle the tasks and challenges at hand. However, intellect alone won’t make a leader. Leaders execute a vision by motivating, guiding, inspiring, listening, persuading and creating resonance. – Primal Leadership by Daniel Goleman, Richard Boyatzis and Annie McKee
